On Saturday night (31st March) My in-laws stayed the night and had left a packet of Ibruprofen accessible to our dog, a fully grown Whippet. There was 2 or 3 in the packet and we recovered 1 that she had not eaten, so she had 1 or 2 tablets of 400MG Each.
The vets were closed and 24 hour vets did not answer so we gave her charcoal treats for dogs we luckily had to hand to help combat the absorption. We kept a close eye on her all night and she showed no symptoms at all. On Sunday she was absolutely fine running about like she normally does and her stools were normal and urinated the same as before. No blood in either and the same as she normally does.
Yesterday (Monday) evening on the 3rd walk of the day she was dying to go out for a wee, when she was urinating she went for quite a lot and then stood up even tho she was still going, which is something I have never noticed her do before. Could this be a sign of kidney damage?
I have read that symptoms are almost immediate and we haven't had symptoms for 2 days. Now I know she should be taken to the vets but like a lot of people the bils for even 1 blood test are astronomical and when we have a baby due next week and a mortgage its an expense we really could do without. And as she has shown no symptoms really Not sure what to do.
Any Advice?
Many thanks
Brad
