What should with multiple hard inquiries on my credit?

Here is the story I went to a dealership, I authorized them to run my credit but what they did they went and they ran my credit with seven different banks and made 7 different hard inquiries, Some people keep saying this will be considered as a rate shopping and they all will be affect on my credit score only once, but my other friends who had same an issue told me they lost 70 to 80 points while they wanted to buy a car, and different dealerships ran their credit for several times, what I exactly should do, I am very frustrated and I have always been trying to pay my bill on the time and I can't think of loosing 70 to 80 point for such a thing like this.
