I realise that MPs have to stay somewhere when they are in London away from their constituencies. Yet the system of buying a second home and flipping the mortgage and profiting from the sale seems wide open to abuse. So would it not be better, and cheaper in the long run, for the government to build a purpose built apartment block in central London where each MP is given a two bedroom apartment when they are elected which is returned to the government when they leave Parliament? There are loads of new apartments being built in London, such as this one
