I come from a working class family but I went to university to study biomedical science, and I'm doing my masters at the moment. My family are always extremely quick to ask why I don't have a job yet, if I'm guaranteed a job at the end of my masters, how the masters will even help, etc. The way they behave, you would think their lives depend on me packing my education in.
They're extremely arrogant and judgemental, even the ones that went to university a few generations back have a chip on their shoulder. They're oh-so quick to remind me that by my age, 22, they were working). None of them did postgraduate education though, and they never seem to take into account that life is starting later for people now in terms of moving out, getting a mortgage etc.
