Stopped paying mortgage on condo. Can I still rent it out?

Greetings:

I own a condo and have been trying to do a short sale for the past year or so. I need to move for work and can't afford to keep two places. I received several offers on the condo, and of course the bank rejected them. I have not made a payment in almost 10 months, but the bank has not started the foreclosure process yet. Can I still rent out the condo after I move? My plan is to rent it for a low amount so that it does not look like I am trying to profit. Just want to be able to cover the HOA dues, utilities, etc. Until the bank decides what it is going to do. Thanks for your advice.
