My dad died nearly 4 years ago. He left me the house I live in with my mom.
My mom gifted me a large amount of money so I put this money into another property. I live in this property with my partner. And my mom lives in the property my dad left me.
I pay the mortgage on the property I live in. My partner pays half towards the other bills. I've been with my partner for 3 and a half years. (I'm not married).
My main worry is if we split up would they be able to have half of what I own?
I've spoken to my solicitor who dealt with the purchase of my last property and they informed me that my partner would not be entitled to anything at all because they are not paying towards my mortgage and haven't put any money towards me deposit.
Would it be worth getting a second opinion?
