How to get a third line of credit?

Heres the deal. One credit card with 5 months of history. Yesterday I applied for a mortgage, and as expected I need more history, and the officer advised opening two new credit lines as soon as possible so we (couple) can reapply in six months. Today, I applied for and was approved for a secured line. I tried to apply for another secured line and "will receive notice in the mail" (denied, but with possible alternative card I'm eligible for, just don't see how I could be). So at that count, I'll have 4 hard inquiries, 3 in the last 2 days, 2 credit card ones and a mortgage one. How can I get this third line of credit ASAP? What alternatives to credit cards are out there, that will look good to a mortgage lender? (Ive heard furniture loans are out because of that). Any suggestions are helpful.

For those who will want to comment on the lenders advice, feel free to do so, but answer the question as well. And if you wish to contradict the lending expert I spoke with, please explain it to me as I'm just going by what this expect asked of me:)
