Mortgages and even rents are so expensive for middle-class household that even the federal and other governments have gotten involved with trying to help people live in them. Wages have stagnated. We even had a huge mortgage crisis. But yet television programming (in TV series) often presents "the dream" to millions of viewers nightly as something to attain at any cost.
