My BF accrued more credit while we are in the process of purchasing a home. What do we do?!

We are currently in the underwriting phase of a mortgage loan. BUT my boyfriend decided to open a line of credit to purchase an engagement ring. I should be excited but I'm nervous this is going to affect the purchase of our house. I contacted our lender but haven't heard back. Is there a good chance we won't get the house? Can lenders usually work around this?
