Is it possible to never use loans for anything?

I'm a teen and I'm thinking about what I'm going to do before and after college so excuse my lack of knowledge of how everything works. I don't like the idea of having debt and and the possibility of not being able to pay it off so I was wondering, does everyone use loans to buy cars, houses, that sort of stuff. Is it possible to pay everything in cash and just don't buy what you can't afford. I know I'm not going to have any college loans so I won't have that to worry about. I'm probably going to live in a small apartment and might get a car for my 16th birthday that will last me a least through college. When I do need a new car or need to buy a house, can't I just save up first and then buy a cheap used car instead of buying a new car and having to pay mortgage. Is this financially unrealistic? I'm trying to plan ahead because I'm going to be a makeup artist and do acting and singing and I want to live in LA or New York so I know I'm probably not going to make a lot of money.
