I obtained my private pilot's license in the mid 1990s.I fly a few times a week for recreation?

i have noticed or observed that the last few years there seems to be a decline in pilots flying for recreation? Is there a decline in the number of people taking up flying? My airport seems empty of student pilots. Thanks.
