Can the IRS verbally verify someone to FHA?
Hi my fiance and I are trying to purchase a home through an FHA loan and this year was her first time filing and when our mortgage company tried to submit the loan, it got rejected because the IRS said she was not verified. She called and got verified but they said it would take 2-3 weeks to update in the system when we are trying to close on the house this Friday since we plan on getting married at our new home April 23rd. We were supposed to close March 16th so you can see how much of a hassle this has been. But when we called the IRS again, the lady on the phone said that she cannot write a letter stating that she her verification has been accepted but its in process but she said she can verbally tell the Mortgage company that she is verified. When I ask my loan guy, he said that a verbal confirmation wont work even if they call the Mortgage company because FHA needs it in writing. Is there anyway that FHA can accept a verbal confirmation from the IRS directly? Any advice will help. Thanks.
