I thought I read that it's best to let them ripen on the vine, then I read that you should pick them just before they ripen. This is my first time growing any tomatoes so I'm just curious what other people do.
When I do let them ripen on the vine, they usually seem too soft when I pick them and some smoosh.
btw - I have brandywine, grapefruit, cherokee purple, and one mortgage lifter. I also have a "rainbow" plant that hasn't started ripening.
