Mortgage, HOMEOWNER INSURANCE, lost jobs advice?

I need some advice! (Please, please keep your advice to “constructive criticism, please) We are coming out of a messy situation where we both lost our jobs. But now we have acquired new ones but it’s been over a year. Yes I still have a messy situation ahead of us trying to reconcile with our mortgage company (if possible) but as of now we don’t have homeowners insurance. When I try online to inquire I keep getting switched from site to site. I know I need to get this house insured and then try to deal with the mortgage holder (green tree). Any “constructive advice” would be appreciated!
