I'm renting at the moment and am completely new to buying a house and mortgages!
I am soon to be receiving ã70,000 in compensation for breaking my legs 3 years ago. The money is obviously meant for my legs but the best place to put it in on a deposit for a house. Then once the mortgage is cheaper than what it would have been with a low deposit I can begin saving back up for costs for my legs, I hope people will agree with this?
I don't want to put the whole thing on a house deposit as I would like to put some into savings in case of an emergency as i'm likely to need more surgery on my ankle which'll leave me out of work for a while plus orthotics expenses etc.
Anyway I was wondering where to go with this I obviously want to splurge a little bit as I'm sure you all would, maybe 5,000 but am determined not to waste this money I need to be sensible about this:)
Could someone also help me with how the process of buying a house happens?
