How long do you have to work to get a mortgage?

My husband recently got a job in the transportation field and we would like to get a FHA mortgage in the fall. He worked in the transportation field for almost ten years before we took a break to attend graduate school. After grad school he worked for almost two years as a manager of a retail store. He has a bachelor's degree in business and works for a company that is very fast growing and pays well. I would like to know if it is possible to get approved for an FHA mortgage with continuous employment for three years but not in the same industry, even though he has prior work experience in his current industry for ten years. We have good credit with no debt and can put at least 10% down. The total housing payment would be about what we are paying now a month.
