My first employer was going out of business. I couldn't afford to be unemployed and unemployment in Florida is not enough to cover the mortgage so I took the first job I could.
The new job was managing 2 departments, one I was very comfortable with and had years of experience doing it and managing it. The second, got me in way over my head and I wasn't really qualified and I don't know why they hired me at all to be honest but I wasn't in a position to be picky. I stuck it out and gave it my best shot but it wasn't working and I got let go.
The day before I got fired from job 2 (Yes, I saw the termination coming loud and clear). I pulled some strings with a friend and a past business contact. And got a job with a company similar to job 1, only it was the bottom of the totem pole position and in neither job 1 or 2 were bottom of the totem pole. Very sobering, but I hate it. And I feel so trapped I have no references from job 1 since they went out of business and the owner is "Hiding out because he is a bad man that cost lots of clients thousands of dollars". No references from job 2 because hey, I messed it up big-time. And none from the 3rd job either because well its hard to use your current employer they wont like it if I'm job searching.
I'm pretty new to the country as well so personal references are difficult to give.
I really don't know what to do but I cant stay in this terrible job 3. Anyone had any success getting a job with no references?
