How to know if I'm approved for food stamps in Alabama?

I applied for food stamps, had my interview and turned in my proof of income and everything last Wednesday. Friday I received a call from dhr saying they needed a different proof of our mortgage. The lady said I would need to bring it up there that day because she'd be awarding our benefits that day and it could increase our benefits. So, Friday afternoon I took what they needed up there. Saturday morning I checked our case status online and it said our case was closed and we weren't currently eligable to receive food stamps. Now I'm confused. The lady talked like I was approved, but the website says different. Now, my question is how will I know if I have been approved or not? Will they call or send a letter even if I'm not approved?
