Any suggestions for cheap but nice home to live in?

I'm a college student, and can't stand the need to get out of my house and get to living my life. I plan to continue college, but my living at home is more than a hindrance. I continue to look for homes, apartments, and condos to rent and live in. And the costs are ridiculous, split between 2 other room mates it's still too expensive on the low pay that I have. It's a very interesting home, but it's size is what interests me. Because it's about the size of some condos, and is cheap. I know homes are a necessity here in the US, and many mortgage companies are willing to offer competitive rates that are very affordable. So much so, I'm confident I could get one and pay less for this monthly than I would for a home or apartment split three ways. I know I'd have to deal with moving this "mobile" home, but I have family in the trucking community that could help a lot.

I guess I'm more looking for options, and thoughts of those who have tried this or have looked into it.
