I'm in the middle of my principles of managerial finance course in college, and I have to be honest, sometimes I get lost in class. Whenever I get lost, I go home and watch YouTube videos related to the topics discussed in class. However, I never have a clear understanding of what my instructor talks about when he mentions interest rates. For example, he might say something like "if the interest rates go up (blah blah blah)". Also I saw a Merrill Lynch ad where the first thing the man said was "We've observered that interest rates have gone up". So my question is: interest rates on what? US Treasuries? Mortgage interest rates? I get lost when the phrase "interest rates" is mentioned.
