The manager of a local branch of a statewide insurance agency and I belong to several of the same networking groups and know each other professionally. He approached me about an open position as an agent and told me that the job was mine if I wanted it…
I told him that I went through a REALLY rough financial time when I first got out of college and that I have some bumps and scrapes on my credit. He told me that as long as I didn't have a bankruptcy in the past 3 years, I was fine (I don't). I have been doing some more research and I'm not sure that's completely accurate. This guy really seems to want me to take the job, but even if he were willing to overlook it, I assume corporate may not agree.
Do you know if any of the following will keep me from getting the job:
Previous:
Multiple debts that ended in charge-offs
Numerous debts ending in collections
Repossession threats for my car (it was never actually repo-ed, but they did show up at me house a few times)
Obviously, with the above items, countless late/missed payments
Currently:
I have student loan debt, which is current.
No mortgage debt, no car debt.
I did get a notice the other day for a credit card that I thought had been paid off, but apparently, I owe like $1500 - which I can take care of right away. I have been trying to bring everything current over the past year or two. My husband and I have talked about checking my credit report to see if there is anything else out there, but haven't yet.
