Can i be evicted for not paying taxes with a lease option house?

We are in a lease for the current house we live in. The previous owner said that we had to do a lease since they still had a mortgage company so they could not do a rent to own. We have not paid the taxes yet for this year. The owners said we have 7 days to pay or we are being evicted. Can they do they evict us? We are current on everything else.
