I got a better job almost a year ago in a smaller town, 500km north of Vancouver, so I moved up here, bought a house & start a mortgage. My family followed 6 months ago.
My wife also got her job 3 months ago. Settling down.
During my visit to Vancouver, I met my high school mate who was visiting Vancouver with his parents.
He's working for his Dad who owns coal mining companies overseas.
His Dad is interested in expanding his business in Canada. So we had a meeting. Long story short, his Dad is recruiting me to be his representative/business development in Canada. He's offering a raise from my take home pay. But a slight reduce from my gross income. He doesn't understand about EI, CPP, etc.
If I take it, I need to move back to Vancouver. It's going to be a 1-year contract basis.
I have to find the business itself as Canada also produce coal and wouldn't import coal.
If I couldn't find the opportunity, contract ends, I need to find another job.
If you were me, would you take this opportunity? Considering the advancement, mortgage that just been started, moving the family back and forth (they love Vancouver better), my wife's new job and I have no mining background at all
Please advise
Tx.
