Which is more cost effective: buying a cheaper and doing it up, or more expensive that needs no work?


I am trying to get my head around whether there is any difference

Say I was to spends £200 k on a house that needed no work. Is that better than buying a house for £150 k that would need £50 k spending on a new bathroom, kitchen, complete redecoration etc.

On paper it looks exactly the same but wondered whether one was more beneficial than the other - particularly when it comes to considering things like mortgage, reselling in the future etc
