Bought a home without proper permits. Losing Home advice?

Good evening, My parents are currently losing their home not because default of payment but because we have purchased a 2 bedroom 1 bath house for roughly 250K.

After 14 years we are to remove an additional garage and an additional room that were originally their when we purchased the home. I decided to let the house go and are currently behind on our mortgage. I will be purchasing a home soon, (need help purchasing home) i only have 1 year tax return that i made 61K (good credit score)

My question is, Why is their a man always calling me to let customers see my home. I am made to open the door and let him in. Is this legit? Please let me know. Also if my home is sold, how many days do i have to move out.
