My sister and I are both in school now. And in about a year and a half my brother will also be going to college. And another 5 years the baby of the family is in college. We r not getting any financial aid at all and I want to know why.
-My mother and father both work over 10 hours m-f just to get us by. My dad makes about a 1200 dollars a week, and that's with him pulling over time. My mom makes a little less than 800 a week. My dad's average yearly Salary comes out to 58,000, moms 42,000. I don't know if that's a lot, but with bills and the mortgage that is 3000, they pay every month. They had to take out a loan on the mortgage to just get us by so we don't lose the house. And our tuition each is 3200. So around 6400 a semester.
-I don't know if it's because of my gpa, which is 2.67, but my sisters is a 3.5. I've had a problem with one of my classes that has brought my gpa down drastically. But if I want to take that class over, alone it's over 3000. I'm currently attending a cuny school if it helps.
-I know I shouldn't be pointing fingers and complaining, but one of my friends is getting covered by financial aid, even though her father makes alone over 200,000 a year or more. She is an average student. A 2.8-3.0 gpa. I would understand a 4.0 gpa, but a gpa a little over mine!
-I already went to financial aid office and they told me I'm not receiving anything because my parents 'make to much'.
If anyone can help clear things up for me, I would really appreciate it.
