Since I don't qualify for unemployment, how do I pay my bills for the next 2-3 months?

I went out of business but, thankfully, didn't go bankrupt. I still have a mortgage and bills to pay. I'm sure it will take 2 or 3 months to get a job. I'm renting 2 rooms in my house, so I do have $1000 per month of income. But, I need at least another $1300 per month of income to pay my bills. Since I don't qualify for unemployment, how do I pay my bills for the next 2-3 months?

Joint account vs Joint Ownership?

I'm confused about something on my husband's credit report. We're refinancing our house because we were young when we bought it and had my parents co-sign for us. On our credit scores under our mortgage it says "joint account". My parents are on the mortgage and are on the title. (We're refinancing to get them off. )
When my husband was in his very early 20s, he got a friend to cosign a motorcycle for him. The loan was on a credit card since it was under $10,000. He says the man cosigned and was NOT on the title, and he cosigned to help him because he had no credit at the time. On his credit, it shows "joint account" for that account, too.
Does that mean this man WAS on the title or registration? Or could he have just cosigned and NOT been on the title or the registration of the car?
Before people say "who cares" I'm asking because we're curious. My husband doesn't recall, since this was literally 15 years ago, but he says he is almost positive the guy was just a co-signer, NOT a co-borrower. But I'm confused because of the credit reports.
Do credit reports show ownership? Or is it merely say "joint" whether you are a co-signer, co-borrower, or whatever?

Chance of a mortgage on a cheap house with a 1099?

Chance of a mortgage on a cheap house with a 1099?
Added (1). I'm looking in the range from $85k - $130k on a home. I plan on depositing anywhere form 10% to the full 20% down for it depending on the price. I make $2400 a month, but that's only been for the last 6 months. Rent is ridiculous where I live and it is only going up. I'm currently filing as a 1099 as a sub-contractor while going to college. I have no outstanding credit debt and my score is somewhere around 700. Chance of a mortgage?

Americans are far more patriotic than Canadians. True?

Granted, if you want to observe patriotism up in Canada, attend an ice hockey game, OR await the so called yearly Canada Day. But that makes it all the more depressing; the people just make excuses to cover up the fact that their precious country is in utter turmoil.

Whereas down in Murica, you don't need to await July 4th, Memorial Day, or wave an American flag to be a proud American. All you've got to do is work your socks off, get educated, get employed, get married and but a home and pay off the mortgage. Go camping, fishing, have a bbq, etc. America also had countless achievements. And if you're of any other nationality or colour and come to Murica, you're immediately a Murican. That's why Americans have every right to be patriotic 24/7.

Canada can just pretending to be something it's not.

Any questions?

Quality of life is far better in the US than in Canada. Agree?

First off, I'm a Welshman (who fled that dump Wales thank goodness!) currently living in England (which is sooo much nicer than my native Wales). And although I love England, I'm dreaming of relocating to Murica and becoming a Murican citizen. I've already gotten rid of my dopey Welsh accent and adopted a posh English accent, and maybe I'll get a slight Murican drawl over there.

Anyhow, in Murica, the people work their socks off, get an education, go to college (in the UK we call it university), get an occupation, get married, buy a home and psyche mortgage. I believe bits calledvthe Murican Dream.

Also, Trump is now the new leader. And that's why I have even more respect for the country and inhabitants. Trump is a great man, who listens to and protects the American people. It is very similar to Brexit here in Britain, which I DID vote for!

Whereas in Canada, the quality of life is so poor. Most people are unemployed, and you're better off getting expelled and living in the streets. They have a lefty leader who doesn't care for the Canadian population for fs!

In addition to to America, the one and only language is English. You don't have to speak other foreign trash, and you could herbage job done quicker and easier. Up in Canada, and since they're so liberal, the place is multilingual, and in places pike Montreal, they insist on speaking French… A language nobody else in North Murica cares about!

I would compare England to America and Wales to Canada.

Question about jointly-owned property with one person wanting to remove their name from the title/deed?

If 2 people jointly own a home residence on the title and deed, and one person willingly decides they want their name to be removed via a quit claim deed, does this mean the loan becomes due in full, if the mortgage loan is not refinanced? Would very much prefer to avoid refinancing, if at all possible…

Rent an apartment or buy a house?

I'm 19. Going to college on scholarship. Boyfriend is 21 and is going to college (help from Mom's payments cause she makes over 100k a year). We both want to move out and live together. I'm not sure how buying a house works and renting an apartment works. We both make around $2200 a month together, as we have the same job now. I need some tips. I'm going to talk to my parents and etc about it but I would like some info. For now. How does mortgage and all that work? I also don't have any credit history whatsoever. I just have a debit card. They never teach you this stuff in high school.

Can I get a mortgage as a Degree apprentice? - 1

I'm about to start a new job as a degree apprentice later this year. I'll be moving to a new area where the house prices are considerably cheaper to where I'm now so thought it may be worth considering the option of buying rather than continuing to rent.

I'll be earning a Salary of £18,500 and contracted for the next 3 years.

I've done a few online mortgages calculators and based on my salary alone I should be able to borrow around £70-£80 thousand.

My two main concerns are that my job is only contracted for the next for 3 years, so is not technically permanent and also the fact that as a degree apprentice I will be completing a degree along side work and may be considered a student (I realise banks/ building society's wouldn't usually lend to students).

My degree is sponsored by work so I won't have any student loans or tuition fees to pay. I'm also salaried so won't be relying on a maintence loan like other students.

Do you think I banks and building societies would be happy to lend me money? Or am I going to have trouble?

Anyone have personal experience with buying a house and getting a mortgage on a little more than 2 minimum wage salaries?

Ok so my boyfriend and I want to buy a house and get a mortage in about 1 year from now. We will both be 21 and credit scores are both above 700. We will have around $5,000 cash saved for downpayment/ closing costs. We're hoping we could get an FHA or some other type of assistance. Anyone had a similar personal experience they would like to share?

More individual info about us:
Me: Will be a college graduate with Bachelors/ I have no debt/ I have been making $7.25 for the last 3 years (because of school I have only had seasonal work so no steady job)
Him: Makes $9.50 an hour/ work has been steady for last 3 years/ no debt

Should my ex husband have done this to my mother?

My mom lost her job and got behind on her mortgage payments and was in danger of losing her home of 30 years. Of all the people she could of asked for help, she asked my ex husband Bill. She really liked Bill when we were married and he really liked her. She thought of him as the son she never had. I guess that friendship did not stop with our friendly divorce like I thought it would.

Bill immediately paid the back mortgage payments and also he paid 1 years mortgage payments in advance. He also used his business contacts to get her a new job. That is totally in character with Bill. As long as I have known him, if he finds out someone needs help, he helps them. Mom went from VERY DEPRESSED to VERY HAPPY in one day.

I'm not sure how I should feel about this. I and my siblings agree that mom should of asked us first for help but we all admit we could not have helped her like Bill did. We just do not have that kind of money. I told Bill we would somehow repay him. He told me he would not accept any repayment. He said mom was great to us when we were married and this was his repayment to her.

Am I off base to think mom should of asked us first before going outside the family for help. Is it possible that it would be too embarrassing for mom to ask her family for help? How should I feel about what Bill did? I'm totally confused.

College Financial Aid?

I tend to think the answer is 'no,' but I've learned in life it's always good to ask… So I'm single, 49 years old, own a rental property, and am making mortgage payments on a house. I earn about $55,000 per year at my job. Is there any kind of financial aid that I qualify for? I've just received my 2 year degree from community college and would like to go on to get my bachelors. I'm not interested in selling my rental property to pay for college, and my guess would be that this is exactly why I wouldn't qualify for finacial aid.

Will I have access to my husband's pay while he is at USMC bootcamp?

My husband leaves for boot camp in San Diego in about 20 days. When he was first looking into joining, his recruiter sat us down with another recruiter to go over my concerns. My top concern was financial because we're married and have many bills together (some which are just in my name because I have the better credit) so I depend on his income to pay mortgage and bills. They told us that while in boot camp he will have the option to wire money home and they made it seem like every time he got paid he d have the option. Now upon further research and after a letter I had to write stating that I understand that I ll be financially independent while he is there I'm starting to worry that they lied. So what is it? Can he wire me money? Will I have access to his account? As far as we know they said he will get an account at pcmu for his pay. I also was made special power of attorney. Does that give me access to funds? He already is getting some things paused while he s gone but I can't afford the rest just on my own. His recruiter seems to just say everything will be fine but if he can I will barely be scraping by. (He's doing reserves so housing pay doesn't apply)

Is 60k a year enough to start a family in fort worth texas?

Hello, me and my wife are starting to talk about children and we're a little worried about how it will be financially. Between the 2 of us we bring home a little over 60k a year and want to know if that's enough to comfortably live on with a baby. We live really good now, our only major expenses being mortgage(800ish a month) car payments(250 a month) and healthcare(500 a month). We have minor expenses obviously but those are the biggest.

Why is there such a stigma against getting help from one's parents into adulthood?

I come from a wealthy family, I went to private schools all my life, including college. My parents paid the tuition, and I never had to take a job during school. During summers, I studied abroad twice, and took an internship my summer between jr. And sr. Year.

I got a job that paid $35k per year, but I wanted to live in San Francisco proper… So my parents paid for my apartment, which I shared with another young professional. My parents also paid for me to travel at least 2 major trips per year.

Now, I'm in my early 30s, and 2 years ago, my parents bought a 3BR condo in Chicago, where I live now. My parents made the down payment and part of the mortgage. I pay the condo fees and the other part of the mortgage. I make $60k per year, which is pretty good, but not lucrative. I depend on my parents a lot less than I used to. Other than housing, I'm still on my parents' phone plan, and my parents still pay for my travels.

I know that I CAN live off $60k per year on my own, but why should I have to do so if my parents are OK giving me money? It doesn't affect anyone else, and I never brag about it to others.

So why the stigma? It's not like I'm mooching off the government or anything. This is strictly between my parents and myself.
Added (1). David B. How does it affect others if my parents have taken care of me? Again, it's not like I don't work or mooch off the government unnecessarily. I work a full time job, and I neither need nor take government assistance. That "sooner or later" you're talking about entails when my parents pass away. Then I get their inheritance.

Fresh college graduate here. Should I buy a home or rent?

Hello. I'm 23 and I just graduated college last year. Luckily, I paid off all my student loan debt less than a year after graduating thanks to my parents letting me live with them for a year. Now I'm currently making $50k/year from my job in Naperville, IL and have no debt at the moment.

I've been thinking about getting a mortgage because I like the idea of gaining equity every month as I pay it off, and I also like the idea that it would be paid off by the time I'm 53.

I have about $10k in my bank account that I could put as a down payment, so I could maybe get a $150k-$200k condo or house here. Another option would be to rent and keep the $10k invested elsewhere.

What would be the best decision?

If your house burns down and the town won't let you rebuild what happens?

Our house has a rebuild of 325K. We owe 68K on it. When talking to the city, they said if our house burns down or is otherwise totaled, they will not permit us to build it again. Our house was built in 1890 before there were rules on how close to the river you can be and the septic was added before there were rules on where that should be etc. It's not possible to build a house using current code on the lot we have. So if something happens to our house does the insurance still pay(minus our mortgage balance of course).

How do I get my FHA loan to cover new countertops?

My fiance and I are buying our first home, the seller is willing to complete all things necessary for us to feel comfortable buying it. One of these things include new countertops. The person who installed the current ones created a seam with the vinyl right near the middle of the sink. It's already bubbling and it will definitely need to be replaced. I just don't know if FHA will wrap those costs into the loan so we don't have to pay out of pocket for it. Does anyone have any experience with this? From what I have read, it would be considered cosmetic, therefore not being covered. But since it's right on a water source, I feel like it could be considered hazardous and at risk for mold and other issues.

Do you think we should get a dog?

My partner and I are considering getting a dog. I'm a university student that still has 3 years left to complete my bachelors degree (I'll note I've already got a college diploma before but wanted to go back to school). My partner on the other hand is a Shift Supervisor at his job and works full time.

I had 2 cats when we first were dating but 1 of them sadly passed away a little while ago. We still have 1 kitty but have never gotten a pet as a couple in the years that we've been together. Now we're thinking of getting a dog but I'm not sure if it's okay for us to start considering.

We own our own townhouse (or rather have a mortgage) so finding a place to live that will be dog-friendly won't be an issue. The only thing is we don't have a fenced back yard so if we were to get a dog it most likely will be a small or medium size for the kind of property we have.

Do you think it would be alright getting a dog or should we wait?

How do I go about going back to college as a 27yro adult with full time job, mortgage, college credits, and over 30k student loan debt?

After 5 years of being out of school and working "the real world" I've decided it is important I get a college degree. I've always been great at math (AP classes through out high school and straight A's) so I've decided to major in biomedical engineering. I've done extensive research and believe it will be a great degree well suited for me. In college I was studying communication studies and completed 2.5 years but dropped out (was offered a management position at the restaurant I worked at in a different state) I was attending a great university so I do regret my decision but reality is that even if I had finished the major I was studying I'd most likely end up returning to school for something with higher security and better salary. I have a 30k debt in student loans which I'm slowly paying off. I'm a full time employed cocktail waitress under a union job so I have good pay, great tips, and great benefits but I want more out of myself and out of life. I can tolerate my job but know I will hate myself if I allow myself to settle.

I don't know whether to enroll in the state university here or to go to community college and take all prerequisites here(to save as much money as possible since I'm already in debt). I'm also thinking I should start with one class and slowly increase the load. Then transfer to a university and finish my degree in biomedical engineering.

Any advice on how to go about all of this or any better ideas of what I should do?

God bless!

Do I need to have a relationship with a bank for future investments?

Essentially, I've been using two banks. One is my primary (CIBC), the other is the one I opened when I was 16 (TD) and have been too lazy to close.

I have heard that TD was good with mortgages, and while I'm still young, I'm slightly thinking about where I can go when the time comes (obviously I will do more research on this when I'm closer to making this decision). Ultimately, I'm incredibly pleased with CIBC and their services. But, in the chance that I wanted to go with TD to mortgage a house, how would I build a relationship with them? Or will they already know my current financial situation anyway? Everything I have and deal with is at CIBC (credit card, debit, TFSA) whereas at TD I only have a chequing account with them. Would this matter?

Is a retirement income of $44,000 for a couple of retirees(so that's $22,000 each) enough to live comfortably in Miami?

My partner and I have no credit card debts and we fully own our house(we paid off our mortgage 4 years ago). So really when we retire in a few years time, our expenses will be on domestic bills, property tax, maintanence when needed and money for food and leisure. Will an income of $44,000 for the both of us be enough in Miami? We will each pocket $22,000. We will basically have $1833.33 each per month.
Added (1). $44,000 is a yearly income that we will be having.

Buying a house before engagement?

Hello

My boyfriend and I are looking at buying a house next year (we're currently renting), I would like to get engaged before buying a house, but he says he would rather wait until we have bought the house.

The mortgage will be split 50/50, but the deposit and solicitor fees etc will all be paid by my family.

Do you think it is right to buy the house first before getting engaged, for me I would like the commitment of being engaged before committing to the house.

Thanks in advance!

Home seller terminated my contract and their own buying contract. How would you handle this?

We searched for this home for over a year and found it. Paid over asking and removed all contingencies except for inspection and mortgage.

The sellers put an addendum to the contract stating contingent on their closing on their newer home and that they were already past inspection and attorney review. And mortgage commitment was coming in a few days. So 5 days before their closing and well after due diligence as far as I'm concerned they find out they can't put an addition or pool in their new home and cancel their contract. Then send my attorney a termination letter as well

We're absolutely broken at this stage of the game and I'm trying my hardest to not go and do anything stupid.

I'm self employed and have a deposit for a home loan BUT I will need to lie on tax return to qualify, can you help me decide between?

Lying on tax return, pay a big tax bill and lose my benefits for the joy of owning my own home OR keep renting, get a permanent job and hope I earn enough to qualify in another 6 mionths or so.

Time is running out. I'm nearly 50, have 2 young children, single and want to buy in Sydney where prices are high.

I pay more rent now than I would a mortgage but banks don't consider that - just what money I bring in.

I'm not concerned about getting caught lying because most people pay me cash but I just don't want to have to write up ledgers. Seems like so much work.

I would love to hear from an accountant or broker who has experience and can suggest the best way forward.

Inheritance tax question UK?

Hello,

I need help with a issue.

My dad has purchased a house worth 320k and still has 15k mortgage to pay for the house. He wants to put the house in my name but from I have seen online, the government will still take inheritance tax if the house is in my name. Is this correct?
