Why would someone take a picture of my house?

I live on a main highway behind another residence. You cannot see my house from the road. My driveway is long and wooded. Someone parked their car at the front residence and walked down my driveway, stopped and took a picture, and then ran back to their car. I do not have a mortgage. I checked with the assessors office and the insurance company and it was none of them.

USDA loans in New Hampshire with only one spouse?

My husband has a federal taxS lien against him. Wondering if I can apply for mortgage alone (he doesn't currently work anyway, stays home with small kids) if my credit and income qualify. If we buy a house and pay a mortgage we will be paying less monthly and better equipped to actually get into a payment agreement to pay off IRS. Since it's not a community property state does his lien even come into play?

Missed payment on credit reports?

My credit is pretty good with no missed payments. However, my recent mortgage payment was returned due to insuffient funds. I quickly deposited the funds in my checking account and submitted the payment again. However once the payment cleared through for the second time, this was after the 30 day late mark. My credit reports already show this payment was made on time. My question is will my mortgage company go back and update my credit reports to show this was late?

How does the repossession system work in UK on mortgage defaults?

Hi,

A United Kingdom question here.

Say a person lives in House A which is worth roughly £500k and has a residential mortgage outstanding of £200k.

Say that person is landlord of House B which is on rent to third party tenants. House B is worth £400k and has a buy to let mortgage of £320k.

If the house market crashes by 40 percent, then House A is now worth £300k (with a £200k mortgage), and house B is worth £280k (with a £320k mortgage).

If the person starts to default on the mortgage payments on House B (but still meets all payments on House A), I presume the lender for B will want to repossess B and try to get their £320k back.

What would be the process?

Am I right in thinking that the mortgage was secured on House B and so the lender can repossess and sell it on and keep the proceeds. However the sale may only realise £280k which is £40k short. Will the person still be liable for the £40k and would his residential home (house A) be at risk of repossession if he cannot pay this £40k?

Cheers

Mortgage Company is adding fees after my bankruptcy but I'm not on the Mortgage?!

I filed for Chapter 13 back in June. I am not on our mortgage, my husbands name is the only one. He did NOT file. I am on the title of the house, but that shouldn't matter. My mortgage company just started adding a $50 monthly fee for the duration of my bankruptcy (5 years) to the mortgage statement. They said its to protect them. Can they do this? How can I get it removed? My lawyer has never heard of this happening before.

Is you sell a house as-is, can the buyer still come after you for any flaws?

A family member owes a ton of money on the mortgage. Over $40K on a refinance loan. Not sure if the house will even sell for enough to cover that, but I have been fixing up what I know how to fix, to try to improve the value. Some of the stuff like house drainage issues/foundation issues can't be fixed by me and would cost thousands to fix. For instance, an improper sump pump in the basement that has water flowing over a fairly large surface into an open sump hole. No french drain, water leaking from a retaining wall that wasn't installed properly by former owners, etc. Possible foundation issues (after 2-3 days of rain, sump comes on for sometimes days, and gets sump flows upwards of 75 gallons per minute during the heaviest of rains with a saturated ground). Possibly underground creek somehow under the back yard, but nothing confirmed. An openly visible creek down the road in the back yard of a house on our side of the street seems to "disappear" up through the yards further up. Not sure if that is underground on our property or not.

The inside condition of the house is decent, but needs work. The house needs a full remodel with no money to do it. I'll gladly help the said family member out financially, but putting too much money into the house seems like a money trap. Refinanced mortgage from over a decade ago.

Any advice? Try to sell it as-is to someone who can fix it? I doubt they'd offer much money, though. I don't think Chase mortgage would do a Deed In Lieu.
Added (1). Foreclosure… There is concern that the house would get destroyed in the process of waiting for them to take it back. Bad neighborhood. Plus, it wrecks the credit, of course.

How to finance a new home purchase & renovation?

I am looking to purchase my first home. I am a first time home buyer so I can qualify for what we call in CT CHFA for a reduced mortgage rate. My question is the home I am looking at needs probably about $40-60K of work. The home is listed for $184K. Would I take a mortgage out for $250K to purchase & renovate the home? Or Do I take a mortgage out for $184K for the home & then a separate $60K loan for the renovations. I am not positive how this works.

Thank you.

How likely is it that we ll be given a mortgage?

My husband and I are really hoping to buy our first house in 2016. We ve managed to pull together £20,000 in savings. I work as a specialist nurse and am currently on £27,000 a year which will build to £35,000 over the next 7 years. My husband is self employed though and although he earns roughly the same as me he has a lot of outgoings for work such as his car and tractor so all in he brings home about £10,000 after expenses and tax are paid. We know we can afford the repayments and we re very good at budgeting (our savings are proof of it) but will a bank see that as well or will they expect us to build a bigger deposit and wait for my husbands to have a slightly higher income?

Why so many Americans fail to save money and/or go broke?

My boyfriend and I are Americans. We're in our early 20's. He works a career and currently makes around 40k as an assistant manager, is not on any public assistance, owns a house, car, and after mortgage, bills, food, etc he still manages to save 1/3 of his salary (between 10-15k).
I'm a college student who technically got a full ride in college all because I spent months before starting (and weeks between semesters) applying for over 100 scholarships online and through mail, and proofreading/editing my essays then was awarded multiple scholarships so now I won't need to take out any student loans during college.
Point being, there's still a lot of Americans out there who make more than he does yet still end up broke or fail to save money. And there's students who complain about being in student loan debt when there are so many scholarships available (local and non-local). Why do people make it so hard on themselves?

How to get ahold of lender, and owner in a short sale?

Hello. I am a tenant whos rights have been violated enormously. On top of the fact that my landlord didn't disclose the mortgage default prior to moving in (which is against the law). He also gave me a 30 day written notice on the 21 of December to be out by Jan 4th( less than 30 days and also void). I would have never moved in being that I am 8 months pregnant, if I would have known the house was in the process of foreclosure! I am a single mom due to domestic violence and I left hoping to find a peace of mind, but now I'm told if I don't leave I will be forced out by the sheriff(also illegal).

I live in California on a month to month agreement. I know by law I only have 30 days. But the owner didn't give me enough notice. He gave me the notice on the 21st, so technically I have until then. But I was told by a real estate agent that if the new owner wants me out and plan to move in on the 4th of Jan they can either offer cash for keys, or give me a 30 day notice.

For me time is of the essence. I am due Feb 3rd. At this point you cannot move in under 30 days. And when the thirty days comes, the current owner will no longer be the owner. The home is owner occupied, and in the short sale neglected to tell the new prospect owners that there are tenants in the home (not lodgers)

How do I find the new owner when the current won't tell us. Or even the bank. If I can get some help moving, I'll be out before the 4th.

I have applied for a government scheme to help with heating costs over winter. One of the criteria is an annual household income of less that £16,000. I earn way less than this. I have a temporary lodger who rents a room for £250 per month. A friend to help split the bills. Even with this extra money my sole income is way below the £16,000 threshold. What do I do about my ex-wife?

My ex wife and I divorced 5 years ago and ever since she took our house which I dont care about but every since shes been putting yelp reviews on my jobs page saying she will never get stuff surveyed there because I am a bad person, etc.

She has made a Wikipedia page about me with a bunch of private hurtful things about me. She tells our kids I hate them and thats why she wont let me see them. She threatens me all the time and tells other the reason we got divorced is because I cheated on her even though she had a 1 year affair with a man and when I found out she ran away with him to jersey for a week and spent all my money. I had to go live at her parents when she did this because she threatened to burn down the house if I was in it. She tells many of her friends that I used to know I keep asking her to get back together. She also tells me I have to pay her mortgage if I want to see our kids. She constantly sues me for stupid things and tells me I cant talk to her parents even though I am friendly with them. My Dad had a stroke and passed and she went to his funeral and spit on the casket. To be honest I dont know what to do, all I want to do is see our kids. Can someone help?

Should I save up for college or a house first?

I am currently living with my dad, so I don't have many bills of my own. I want to go to college, starting with an associates degree from the local community college, but I'd also like to own a house and feel that if I wait too long to start saving for a down payment, I could find myself in a position where I am trapped renting instead of owning. Renting is a lot more expensive here than paying a mortgage and the annual property tax, and I just really want that feeling of security (such as not having to move because the landlord raised the rent too high or being evicted because the apartment complex was sold) that doesn't come with renting a house or apartment. I also feel that owning a home would free up more income in the long term, allowing me to still pursue college and eventually complete a bachelors degree or higher if I choose to do so.

House is about to be sold! Help immediately?!

Bank wont refinance us. I cannot leave this house! Too much memories! (13 damn years of my life!). What can we do to either delay, or stop the sale and stay there for a long time so my dad can build up enough money and pay the asshole bank? ANYONE Help ME Please. How to go about getting a personal loan for 100,000 to consolidate several loans worth that?

To add to the question. I want to consolidate a lot of my debt which totals 100k. It's easier to make one large payment instead of 7 different payments but it's very hard to get approved.

My score is 680 due to the high credit card utilization which this loan will address. Other than that I've been on time for every payment in 7 plus years including a mortgage.

Everytime I apply I get denied. I try to explain that the personal loan is a wash and it's going to already existing debt.

I was hoping someone on here could chime in because I feel that consolidating debt would be an easy approval considering I'm applying the entire 100K to existing debt.

My mom had a reverse mortgage on the family home (company took advantage of her) after she died I tried to contact them about taking over the house, no reply. The house sat vacant for almost 3 years, a family member got a call asking us to help HUD close the deal, make things easier for everyone and just come in and sign a deed… Rather then thousands of documents, waiting several years and a court hearing. I feel like we are being conned, out names weren't on the house or mortgage.
I believe the value of the house has gone up and there is equity, which we would be signing away. I checked online and cannot find any evidence of a deed or mortgage being filed on the house.
Advice please!

What fee's (out of pocket) are involved with buying a new mobile home, set up, installation, etc?

So me and my wife live in the North Florida area where land is very cheap, so when we were considering houses mobile homes are a very good choice around here. And I don't mean trailer parks, most of the home's around here are trailers on their own lots. We are looking at new models that we can customize and make our own and the prices are looking great, but I would just like to know from someone who has bought a new mobile home from a dealer what kinda fee's were involved, and how much of the set up they will do. (I've heard from a friend that they will even find a lot and add it into the mortgage)

Please, I don't want to hear about your story of buying a bad mobile home, just as many if not more problems come from buying a used slab house.

Where should I allocate my funds this month?

Hi there,

I'm looking for basic advice as to where I should allocate my funds for a few expenses.

I will getting paid about $5,750 - $6,000 this paycheck tomorrow and below are my outstanding expenses.

1. $2,800 credit card debt
2. $1,000 down payment on upcoming mortgage (signing will take place Feb 15th, 2016. Full amount is $14,000 and is fully paid after this $1,000)
3. $300 balance for cellphone plan
4. $2,000 (legal fees for lawyer - not due until March 1st, 2016)
5. $300 for Christmas
6. $120/mth auto insurance

I also have $1,500 in my savings account available.

I moved back to my parents to live rent-free a couple months ago as I purchased a home and I don't take possession until March 2015.

What do you recommend I do? Pay it all now? Or chizzle away until March? My goal is to have 3-4 months of monthly expenses saved before I move in.

Does a Credit Supplement or Soft pull of my credit report show a credit card balance not yet reported?

I'm closing next week on my mortgage, I plan to use about $1,000 on my credit card before that. My credit card is not scheduled to report my balance until 2 weeks after closing. Will a soft pull or credit supplement show the extra money I used? Or is the credit aspect based on my credit report?

Legal advice for a family in Washington State?

We are a family in Washington State that has been working on a deed in lieu on our home. The mortgage company, Wells Fargo, told us we would be able to walk away then included a $68,000 promissory note as part of the final papers. A real estate lawyer told us that wasn't legal for a deed in lieu in Washington state but Wells Fargo says they can include a note for a deficiency. Does anyone know what the law in Washington state is regarding a deed in lieu and a deficiency? WF is putting legal proof on us! (They are the worst!) Can anyone give us the specific state law (RCW)? Help! Thanks!

Because my monthly expenses are $3,500.00 then my boss better pay me that or more, right?

Monthly expenses:

Mortgage - $1,800.00
Car, gas, maintenance, etc. - $700.00
Food, clothes, utilities, etc. - $1,000

So, my boss better pay me at least $3,500.00 after taxes (~$20.14 per hour, after taxes), correct? Otherwise my boss isn't paying me my living wage, right?

In other words, employers should pay employees according to employees' personal expenses, right?

Do you think $5000 is a lot of money fir a chequing account?

I keep a minimum of $5000 in my chequing account. My monthly expenses are $3500. This is everything, mortgage, utilities, groceries, vehicle expenses and so on. So basically I pay my bills and if I have anything left over, say $6000, I will transfer $1000 to my savings/investments. This has been working out great for me. Bills are paid, I have a decent savings account and if there is ever an emergency or I get laid off from work then I have $5000 to use so I don't have to pull money from my savings. I do this because my job isn't steady through winter as I work outside so having $5000 liquid is a huge help. Also if I keep a minimum of $1000 in my account then it's free to use. I do not get charged any fees. So really I treat it as having $4000 if that makes sense.

Every time I go to the bank the teller will say that I have way too much to keep in my chequing account and they always try to get me to transfer at least $2000 to my savings. Is it really too much? Is there a better way to manage my finances?

To simplify things here is a breakdown of a typical month

1) $5000 at the beginning of the month

2) after getting paid twice there is now $9500

3) use $3500 to pay bills and transfer $1000 to savings

4) start following month with $5000

I just finished a Diploma in Finance and Mortgage Broking, where to now?

I would really appreciate some advice with getting started on this career path. The 2 years of mentoring I will undertake. But whats concering me are the ongoing mentoring and professional costs. Since I am new to the industry with no client base or referral network I might not see any incone for a few months. Is there a way for me to earn money, gain industry experience and build a network from the get go? Would you recommend working as a loan writer or mobile lender initially to gain industry experience?
