Why did I receive an escrow refund check? And will it come back to bite me?

Why did I receive an escrow refund check? And will it come back to bite me?
Added (1). I'm a fairly new home owner. I purchased 2 years ago. I remember last year getting a check for a couple dollars. This year it is for about $1000. That why I'm not so sure if I should get excited over this. Don't want it to come back and bite me.
Added (2). My taxes and insurance are included in my monthly mortgage payment. But could this happen again?
