I get some money after house sells but how do I buy a house at same time without a deposit yet?

So I divorced and I get enough money from the house sale to buy a mortgage free house.
And an offer on our house has been accepted.

But now I am looking for a house to purchase but how do I do this without any money in my bank?
Do I need to find a huge deposit to make an offer?

Or will they wait until my ex pays me my half of the proceeds from the sale?

I can't afford to rent anywhere while I wait so was hoping to buy at the same time.

I get money after the house sale for a while from my ex to cover my loss of income but again that will only be in my bank after the house is sold.
Added (1). I am now unemployed because my ex got our company after the divorce - I got the children
so I got the better deal ;) - however I am probably not going to be able to get a loan to cover the deposit as I am unemployed while house hunting.
