My home was illegally foreclosed and I received a check from CFPB?
Hello Everyone!
In 2012 I hit hard times and got behind on my mortgage payments. The loan was a VA loan so I contacted them and explained to the what the issue was and I needed help with dealing with the bank. They contacted them and told me they were working with them to get the situation resolved. I filed for forbearance and turned in all the paperwork to the bank. While I was waiting for hear bank from the bank, and also keeping in touch with the VA, I got a notice on my front door which turned out to be a 3 day notice to move due to my home being sold at auction to a third party! I obviously was stunned because I never heard back from the bank.
In Oct. 2015 received a check in the mail from CFPB in the amount of $9,994.00. The letter said I was receiving the check because my home was illegally seized and the check was a civil penalty. I don't know what that means but it doesn't sound good for the bank. It also said I could take legal action personally. Has anyone else had this happen?
