Saving up for a house, any advice?
Hi, i am 21 years old. I know i may seem young for someone trying to buy a house but my boyfriend and i live in his parents home still and we really want to get out of there soon, but i don't want to throw my money away on rent either since we don't make a significant amount of money. We both have a couple years left before we graduate (we take night classes and work during the day). My goal is to try and have $50k by the time we finish school, which should be around 2018. I am a nanny, and i only make 26,000 a year. (yeah, ouch.) and my boyfriend is a construction worker and he makes the same. I've managed to save about $7,000 in a year and a half. How can i make my goal realistic of getting that 50k? What advice do you have about buying a home? Our credit are both good, his is better than mine. (about 700). I'd love to hear your personal stories on how you bought your first home!
