Homeowners in California robbed by banks?

I want to look into it but it almost seems like Google has forgotten about it. High mortgage rates, interests with incredibly low payments actually going towards the payment of the house.

This all happened from 2005 - 2008. In California with WaMu - now Chase. My parents got robbed and I want to look into it. Any information and how I can begin would be helpful.
