Why is my home insurance not paying what is owed to me?

I had a reduction in my home insurance premium which is $754 a year.
The original premium was $1,316.00 a year.

My mortgage company ADMITTED they over payed or payed 2 different payments.
They payed the $1,316.00 & the $754.
They sent me a check for $742.00.
I was told if I take the $754 & deduct it from the $1,1316.00 That would leave a refund of $742.00.
If you add the 2 payments they made it comes to a total of $2,070.00.
Now take the $754.00 and deduct it from the $2,070.00 & what do you get?
you get $1,316.00 which is what I should be reimbursed
Why did they send me a check for $742.00?
Thanks for any help.
