Husband still pays his half of the mortgage but he's not living in it?

My husband hurt me, so I called cops. He's dealing with mental issues. We haven't been allowed contact for several months, and will continue to not have contact until he completes a program. Likely this will be over in October or early November. Since July, he's kept up his half of the bills, and he has no job. But he still pays using his savings. He's not even allowed near the house. If he wanted a divorce, wouldn't he have forced a sale on the house by now? He keeps paying
