Is it worthwhile doing a PhD straight after graduation or waiting for a couple of years?

My reasoning for wanting to wait a few years would be that I could save up for a house deposit and get a mortgage and use the money from the course funding to pay towards a house rather than renting for 3/4 years.
Opinions?
