Can someone explain the the subprime mortgage crisis ( The Big Short ) in an easy way?

I thought the movie was very good but I'm just not familiar with stocks and mortgage and such. I was hoping someone could explain what happened, the CDOs, the aaa's to the b's meaning, etc.
