Does getting off a home loan as a co-signer stay on your credit history or hurt your credit long-term?

I'm thinking of co-signing on a home loan with someone who wants to do an assumption on the mortgage after the first year to get my name off the loan. Just wondering if this stays on my credit history, affects my credit after getting off the loan or if it has any affect on credit approval abilities after I'm off of it? Thanks.
