No certificate for boiler for new house?

hi

we are in the process of buying a house, and very close to exchange of contracts. The only thing standing in the way is the fact that the sellers haven't got the certificate for the boiler when it was installed.

they have sent off for one, but it can take 10 working days to arrive. Is there any way we can proceed without this? I spoke to gas safe and they said it was registered

why does my solicitor want it? Is it a legal requirement to have it or is it for the mortgage company?
