Final principal mortgage payment with automatic withdrawal?

If you're on automatic mortgage payments, what will happen if you pay down your mortgage to a principal balance less than your normal automatic payment? Will the computer know how much to draw on the final payment? This is in contrast to requesting a traditional payoff quote.
