Do teachers care if a student, or a group of students, fail the course?

Would it look bad on their part, especially if the students were actually trying in that subject?

Onee teacher said to the class that they already get paid for the year with the amount of students.

Another teacher in secondary school stated that he didn't care if we fail, only because he already paid his mortgage off.
