Will applying for a loan before a mortgage effect your chances of being accepted?

Hi. My partner and I are currently in the process of getting on the property ladder but our car has just died on us. We cannot use our house deposit as its tied up in an ISA. So if we apply for a loan to get a car will this effect our chances of being accepted for a mortgage? Sorry for the nievity but I ve never understood all this credit stuff! Thank you in advance:)
