Does anyone have experience with SNAP benefits for out of work professional?

I am unemployed after a successful 25 year career, so I currently have no income and am coming to the end of my severance money. I have made arrangements with my bank for a 6 month forbearance on my mortgage. With no current housing expense but with also no income, is anyone with knowledge about this process able to tell me if I could be eligible for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition)
